  1. <Chapter 8:  Print>
  2.      If you want to print the currently loaded chart, you will need to use
  3. the PRINT command in the top menu. First make sure that your printer is
  4. ready to operate; then, invoke the PRINT command. You are then prompted to
  5. choose an printing orientation. There are two choices.  PORTRAIT is the
  6. normal orientation, with the shorter edge of the page oriented
  7. horizontally, and the longer edge vertically. LANDSCAPE is the sideways
  8. orientation, with the shorter edge oriented vertically and the longer edge
  9. horizontally. See <[FIG14]>.

  11.      Choosing the orientation starts the printing task. However, if the
  12. chart is too large to fit on a single page, another menu appears by which
  13. you can choose one of the output options for oversize charts: SHRINK,
  14. TRUNCATE, or MULTI-PAGE.

  16.      Printing is performed in the background. You can continue working on
  17. the current chart, load another chart, or perform any ORCHIS operation
  18. while printing is in progress. However, only one print task can be
  19. scheduled at a time; the current print job must complete before another
  20. can be started.

  22. <Section 8.1:  Portrait>
  23.      Use the PORTRAIT command to select portrait orientation and start
  24. printing output.

  26. <Section 8.2:  Landscape>
  27.      Use the LANDSCAPE command to select landscape orientation and start
  28. printing output.

  30. <Section 8.3:  Oversize Charts>
  31.      If the chart image you want to print is too large to fit on a single
  32. page, a new menu is displayed after you choose the orientation. This menu
  33. offers four options for printing the oversize image.

  35.      Note:  the size of the chart image is determined by a combination of
  36. factors, the type sizes, line weights, chart geometry, and so forth. Often
  37. the overriding factor will be the default type sizes set in the
  38. DEFINE-FORM menu. In such a case, the size of the chart can be effectively
  39. controlled simply by changing these defaults.

  41. <Section 8.3.1:  Shrink>
  42.      The SHRINK command prints the oversize chart at a smaller size so
  43. that the entire image will fit on a single page. The orientation of the
  44. image and the ratio of its height and width are not altered.

  46. <Section 8.3.2:  Multi-page>
  47.      The MULTI-PAGE command uses as many pages as required to print the
  48. chart at its normal size. Pages are printed in the following order. First,
  49. the top row of pages is printed, beginning with the upper left corner of
  50. the image and proceeding to the right. Then, the second row is printed,
  51. then the third and so on.

  53. <Section 8.3.3:  Truncate>
  54.      The TRUNCATE command prints as much of the chart as will fit on a
  55. single page, and ignores the parts that will not fit. In effect, it prints
  56. the first page of a multi-page image, and then stops.

  58. <Section 8.3.4:  Cancel>
  59.      The CANCEL command kills the requested print of the oversize chart
  60. and returns to the top menu. Choose this option if you want to re-edit the
  61. chart, or change its properties or defaults before printing.
